How public charging billing works.
Billing depends on how you start your charging session:
Using the Ivy app
- Select the charger in the Ivy app.
- Start your charging session.
- The session cost is automatically charged to your saved payment method.
Using an RFID card
- Tap your RFID card at the charging station.
- The session will be billed to the payment method linked to your Ivy account.
Using QR code / credit card
- Scan the QR code on the charger.
- Enter your credit card details or use Apple pay.
- The session is billed directly to that payment method.
Charging sessions are pay-per-use. You are billed based on Ivy’s posted pricing at that station.
Where to find your receipt.
After each completed charging session:
- An email receipt is sent to the email address associated with your account or payment.
- You can view detailed session history in the Ivy app under Account → History.
Your receipt includes:
- Location of the charging station
- Energy delivered (kWh)
- Session duration
- Total cost
- Taxes (if applicable)
Pre-authorization details.
At the start of a public charging session, a temporary pre-authorization hold is applied:
- $50 for standard credit card payments
- $75 when using Apple pay
This ensures sufficient funds are available for the charging session.
After the session ends:
- The final session cost is calculated.
- Any unused portion of the pre-authorization is automatically refunded.
- If the session cost exceeds the pre-authorized amount, the remaining balance is charged separately.
