Billing methods.
You can pay for public charging sessions using:
- The Ivy mobile app (with a saved payment method)
- A credit card via QR code
- Apple pay (where available)
- An RFID card linked to your account
All sessions are billed on a pay-per-use basis.
Billing through the Ivy app.
If you start a charging session using the Ivy app or RFID card linked to your account:
- The session cost is charged to your saved payment method
- You will receive an email receipt after the session ends
- Your full charging history is available in the app
You can view:
- Energy consumed (kWh)
- Session duration
- Total session cost
- Monthly subtotals
Billing through QR code payment.
If you scan the QR code at the charger and pay without logging into the app:
- You’ll enter your credit card details or select Apple pay
- The session cost is charged to that payment method
- An email receipt is sent after the transaction
To track long-term charging history and monthly summaries, we recommend using the Ivy mobile app.
Pre-authorization holds.
To ensure sufficient funds are available:
- A $50 pre-authorization hold is applied for credit card payments
- A $75 pre-authorization hold may be applied when using Apple pay
After your charging session is complete:
- The final session cost is calculated
- Any unused portion of the pre-authorization is released or refunded
- If the total exceeds the pre-authorization amount, the remaining balance is charged separately
Note: Depending on your financial institution, it may take several business days for the hold to disappear from your account.
Receipts and charging history.
After every charging session, you’ll receive a detailed email receipt outlining:
- Location
- Date and time
- Energy delivered (kWh)
- Total cost
If you use the Ivy app, you can also access your complete charging and payment history directly within the app.
💡 Tip: Using the Ivy app provides the most complete view of your charging history, monthly totals, and payment records.
